Hi all,
Rescue Mama from a quite residential town in Croydon, VIC in Australia. 22, and living the animal rescue dream.
New to having backyard chooks, so far we have 6 hens:
THE ORIGINAL THREE
- Paisley, our moulting lead hen, a leghorn x Australorp
- Audrey, named after Little Shop of Horrors, a nice ISA Brown
- Ethel, a white and brown flecked something. She has a squashed, wide comb.
THE NEXT GENERATION
- Bear, a brown something something with a fluffy floof on it's head. Gender confused. Bear is named after Bear GRYLLS after surviving a week in the wilds of the horrid world - "The Other Side of the Fence-land"
- Big Mama, a HUGE (for age) Australorpe girl.
THE SPARE
- Imelda, a white-ish Wyandotte, who came to the flock to fill Bear's space in it's disappearence - Bear came home after a week, Imelda stayed on.
Besides Bear's adventures, it's all laid back. A slight case of BUGS in the coop (gross!) was fixed swiftly. We get on average 2 eggs a day from 3 layers.
Also the rescue mama of two dogs, Pew (a princess chinese crested hairless) and Digit (a dense pug x griffon)
We have rescued 3 cats. Two boys - Loki and Simba (Simba being my childhood cat - still kicking!) and then the tiny Minchin, our only female kit.
I did rescue a 28 year year old man - but that he's hardly a pet, right?
I am hoping to rescue a snake at the end of the year!
So, that's me and my brood! Look forward to the assistance that being a member of BYC provides!
Cheers,
Rescue Mama
