I rescued a 15 month old Silkie Rooster from a farmer that had sold his farm and could not take him with him. He was heartbroken. After being quarantined, I placed in s separate part of the run for a week before I tried to integrate him. I have s small flock of 6 hens. 1 is 15 months (Barred Rock) and the others are all only 18 weeks. The 5 pullets are fine with him, but the Barred Rock Hen is being a monster and is drawing blood from his comb and pulling feathers from his head. I really want this to work out but scared she will kill him. He does put up a fight and has huge Spurs, but she is bigger than he is and wins the battle. I have the hen in a small coop inside the same run and am allowing him to manage the other girls. Each time I let her out she goes off. And he instigates it too. Any advice?

Move her someplace else for a week, somewhere she can't see the rest of the flock and they can't see her. That may "reset" her. Or, it may not. He instigates it because he want to be the head bird in the pen, a position she currently occupies. You might just have to let them duke it out (supervised, of course) or send one of them to a new home if they can't get along.

Good luck.
