Rescued 3 Bantam hens, bad shape, need advise

Thankyou for the links, i hope i wont have to but will read up so i am prepared. So far they are still chowing down, got them to eat some meat, kale, tomatoes along with some more mealworms. I think i will offer some scrambled eggs in a few hours. My plan is constant water and crumbles with 4 offering of "extras" throughout the day. I am hand feeding the mealworms so they learn when i come around good things follow :)

I don't have any information to offer. I just wanted to say Thank You for taking in those bantams. It's nice to see people doing stuff like that. It makes me sad to see animals in such bad care. So thanks for giving them a great home. Most of my chickens were in terrible care too. They had close to no feathers because they were kept in a coop with 30+ hens, and the coop was big enough to only hold 20 at the most. The worst part was that these chickens were my grandfathers. Before they became mine, we lived with them for about 8 months. I had to basically sit back and watch those poor chickens suffer, because there was nothing I could do to help them. Thankfully my grandparents moved out and left their chickens behind. It has taken me two years to get them to perfect health. They now are fully feathered, and 3 of the hens have hatched out chicks. So I do know what it's like to try and make a hen healthy and happy again.

Thank you for giving these hens a chance

It makes me happy to know that animals who are suffering sometimes go to such great homes.

This thread has taken a lovely positive turn now.

EpicBlueAcres: those chickens must think they've died and gone to heaven. Warm baths and good food... I completely forgot about mealworms! Which is strange considering we farm the things! My chickens didn't know what to do with the things when I first bought them, they learned quick though! mealworms are great snacks. As is crickets, for the entertainment. Watching the chickens chase them always make me laugh.

MsChickenMomma: That must've been very frustrating for you! I'm glad things changed and those chickens got a second chance with you.

Thanks. It was very frustrated. Now it pleases me to know that they are healthy and happy and they will have good long lives with us.

The girls seem to be doing well, the white one still seems to have trouble walking/ being steady on her feet (not sure if it is her heavy crop or from her missing toe nails). The black girl (who got named Poe) has gained 2 oz, the little white with black spots girl (who got named De Ville) has gained 4.2 oz and the reddish/black girl (still have not found a name that suits her) gained 3.7 oz. They are eating everything extra i offer other than the greens and veggies, they don't seem to realize they are edible
