So we work on a resort and found a baby duckling, and at first we all thought it was going to die. It couldn't hold it's head up, it wasn't moving a lot, but it made a lot of noise. Over the span of, say, about 2 hours, she was able to hold her head up correctly and can shuffle around with her feet, but can't stand. She lasted the night and was just fine, she'd just peep and get mad if I wasn't holding her to keep her extra warm. She's definitely gotten much stronger, but she still can't stand up. I filled our sink with water to see if she could swim, and she can float perfectly fine and paddle a little. I wanted to see if swimming could strengthen her legs and help her walk, but she still hasn't been able to. Also, she drank some water with electrolytes last night and she may have had some this morning, but I can't get her to eat. I cut up some zucchini and banana and cherry tomato, but she seems to only want to snuggle and sleep. My mom had a pet duck growing up, but I've never had one before.

We thought there was something really wrong with her too, but after seeing how she's changed in less than 12 hours, we're starting to think she was just hatched. She's tiny and she's already imprinted, so we think she was attacked or something, because when she was found she seemed very dazed and had wet spots on her, desptie being on a helicopter pad..

Pretty sure a mallard, we don't have nearly as many wood ducks here as we do mallards

Try some duck starter or chick starter and warm water maybe a little soupy. Or call fish and game and they can get you in touch with a rehabber who knows just how to take care of and raise this lil one so it can eventually go back into the wild . Such a precious lil one.
