We just had a call from friends who had a loose chicken that had been hanging out in their yard for a few weeks. No one nearby knew where the bird came from. I was able to catch it and bring it back to our small coop. The bird is fairly skittish but once caught very docile. I have been trying to look through various breed information to determine they type and have conceded I need help. Anyone know what type of bird this is? Also, some characteristics are pointing to it being a hen, however, I don't know if that is more wishful thinking than anything on my part. No eggs yet, and I can't quite tell if the bird is young or old based on it surviving as a lone bird for a while.

Is that a clump of dirt on her foot or does she have bumblefoot? I haven't seen bumblefoot yet, but it looks suspicious.

I agree that she looks like a Wyandotte.
