Rescued Chicken

No problem and yes, I agree with you. But you have to remember, you cannot cure stupid.

I was just very proud of our Amish neighbor for sending the guy packing with or without the rooster.

That hen definitely has been over bred by the looks of the pic on the left. Saddle feathers worn, wing clipped. I'm glad she's got a good home now.

Oh definitely. I’d go out on a limb and say whoever owned that bird is an idiot for clipping the wings in the first place. I’m sure the hen is better off with the OP.

I can tell you now the person was a complete idiot. Cut past the primary feathers and absolutely butchered the secondary. The feather shafts themselves have multiple notches in them so I'm guessing whoever did it just flat out didn't know.

I don't know a lot about chickens but I do know about other pet and exotic birds.

Oh geez is that why she's missing so many feathers and looks ragged? That horrible. Poor girl.

Any specific brand better than the other or stuff to look out for in terms of vitamin content? Or any bird water supplement fine?
Really anything will work with 20% protein for feed but I use southern states flock balancer pellets and southern states flock balancer 5 grain scratch. For vitamins I use rooster booster but just about anything similar will work.

No, she just knows that she is no longer caring for offspring and can thus raise more. What breed is she? She's not brooding because she is wanting kids. That emotion is really only human felt
Well, @roosterhavoc I know you have a flock of gamefowl and I bow to your expertise, but I saw this rooster in our neighbor's yard. It was an OEGB dubbed and ready to rock. Around here did somebody know the difference between an OEGB and a Gamebird? I imagine after enough Bud Light all chickens look the same for some people. Or maybe somebody is using OEGBs in place of Gamebirds. I wouldn't put anything past people any more.

And yes, I know the difference between the two. Although I have a couple of tough OEGB boys with shall I say, admirable attitudes as in they will take on the big boys in my flock and have the big roosters doing wide circles around them afterwards.

Either way, bless the OP for catching this little lady and giving her a second chance at life. And a good second life it will be.
I admit I do not have, nor do I know anything about these breeds. I do admire their wild beauty though. I just want to add though a note I just found on a very reputable Missouri hatchery site that was on their own pictures of them.

"NOTE: The Old English are photographed with comb, ear lobes, and wattles dubbed (cut off). Entering a poultry show with non-dubbed males of the Old English breed is a disqualification. ..."

So apparently it can mean a dubbed bird "ready to rock" is just "rocking the runway" so to speak.
