Yesterday I rescued a female barred rock hen that was found wandering around at work. I brought her home and am keeping her in a dog crate in my basement, separate from my other girls. She is extremely thin and her feet look horrible, most likely scaly mite. What I have done so far is seven dust her, added electrolights to her water, applied Ivomec eprinex to skin on back of neck, and have been applying Vaseline to her feet and legs (but just picked up some bag balm to use instead, starting tomorrow). Have been giving her layer feed as well as tons of treats to put weight on her such as cooked chicken, scrambled egg, oats, rice, cottage cheese, etc. Can you all give me any more advice to help this poor girl along? She is pretty mellow considering what she has been through. I am assuming someone threw her over the perimeter fence at work (which is 8 feet high). Oh, I am planning on a retreat of the eprinex in about 10 days. Sorry so long and thanks in advance for all replies.

Sounds like you are doing everything I'd do. I rescued 3 cornish crossed about 3 months ago. It was a major feat but they actually lost weight, gained better mobility due to toning their muscles and they stopped having that smelly diarrhea.
Its a labor of love and its so worth it in the end when you see them looking and acting like a real chicken.
Good for you! Pictures please!

Sounds good. You can mix some Sevin in with the bag balm for the legs. You might also bathe the legs and scrub them gently with a toothbrush to get under the scales, if you haven't already done this.

Oh, you all have made me feel SO much better! I will try to post pics-need to figure out how first:). Thanks again!
