Rescued Chickens - Full grown, what are they?

They could be a barnyard mix. Two rescued chickens (abandoned at a farm and when found everything had died except for these two - there were goats, chickens, horses, etc). They are full size, but I don't know what they are. The female lays a cream egg, medium I would say. No idea on the age, the female started laying after she was found, but she could have been not laying due to malnourishment. The roo hasn't been seen breeding the female though so maybe young?? They are my sister in laws now

They are both gorgeous birds - the male has a blue "shimmer" that I couldn't quite capture in the picture:

Looks like wheaten OEG's, hard to tell from the pictures. And that roo looks pretty old judging from the length of his spurs, probably a year or two.

He could be - the rescue group honestly had no idea. I just thought it was odd that he doesn't breed the female, but he does have good size spurs. They are pretty attached, being the only two left out of a decent size group. Not real large either so that makes sense. She is a great layer - an egg every day!

The look like my mixed OEG ones (bit barnyard but really pretty) mine are half pure OEG and barnyard crosses.

Game birds makes sense if they were the last ones standing, so to speak. Game birds are known for being hardy, good foragers and very independent. Good layers and great mommas, too. Definitely mature birds, but how old is really a mystery. He could be not mating due to poor nutrition, etc, but if she's laying he'll likely start mating soon.
