Rescued geese eggs

I

there not Canadian I assure you that I would not be on here asking about them I wouldn’t have them. They are from a farmer who has lots of geese that he just lets run.

That's great news. I've seen a lot of threads shut down immediately someone says they rescued a wild bird. Then they don't get the help and advice they need to save them. Sad really. I expect it is the website owners way of avoiding prosecution.

Anyway, I hope your eggs make it.

As for locking down for hatching, it is hard to say when because you don't know hoping they were under their mother before the nest was disturbed. I'd go by the candling development. When the baby fills the egg so its all dark. But lockdown is often unnecessary and many eggs hatch without it. I would just keep the humidity up as much as you can and wait.

Just wanted to say, it isn't anything like that. I know people are trying to help, but often times people incorrectly raise wildlife and it can't be released because it's become so accustomed to being fed by and living with humans.

Wildlife rehabbers have to give very little contact from a very young age (even while hand feeding) and it can be extremely difficult for people to resist cuddling/loving/messing with the babies they raise. It's best left to the professionals and out of the hands of the public.

I don't agree with everything you've said here, but I do understand the point you are making.
