i have now my 7th rescue chicken and wondered if anyone has started a thread about the lovely birds in our lives that may have not had the best start out of life but a wonderful happy ending
big_smile.png

please tell us what kind of condition they where in when you got them. and if you know when you rescued them

here are my three i just rescued yesterday have not named them yet but ill be sure they fit them well
they have tons of egg casings on them and mites and fleas they has months of poo caked to thier feet that with sissors and two very warm foot soaks have finally can see their feet the rooster had a string wrapped sooo tight around his foot he could have lost that toe any day.. its so upseting to see these poor animals suffer.. i butcher my chickens but does not mean i dont have a heart!! and people who cant/wont take care of the animals they have dont deserve to have them! so come join me in putting in their memory the wonderful birds that we have spent time and money on trying to keep them alive to live a better life

this is cockie saved him from an over crouded pen with to many roosters he was covered with ticks and mites and heart worms (or some internal bug that was in his heart)

friends of friends.... papers.. all over. anywhere i can get them out of a place that they are in into a happer better living place im all in for it!

yup.. like we have something called a nickles worth thats nothing but ads and i look through them if i find something like need to downsize.. i go and look to see what kind of place these chickens are living in.. i take them in make them better free of bugs ive given a few to a friend who just loves her chickens and feels the same as i do about them

i first like to give a few days to see whats wrong or what could be wrong and i go from there..
smile.png
mites are always presant so i get rid of those first with poultry dust.. having bugs all over them prolly isnt comfortable i keep them in a extra large dog crate and clean it out daily (had one had to do it 3 times a day man was i happy when she was feeling better she had worms and really runny poo)

I bet you were happy! I have a mama silkie and her 5 chicks inside, and it's SO nice to get them outside! I have a very evil hen who picks on her babies, so I can't let them free range together. Going to build a seperate coop just for the silkies
smile.png
When you love your chickens, you'll do just about anything for them! My neighbors prolly think I'm insane when they see me bringing in the silkie mama and her 5 youngsters...If only I could get some chicken diapers!
