I want to start raising a few chickens for the enjoyment and also to have organic eggs available. It's been a long time since I helped Mama, so I wanted to find out more about it first and found BYC. Looks like a fun and informative site. When I was a child, my Mama always kept a pen of chickens. I helped gather the eggs and I just loved watching the hens with their little "biddies" trailing along.

(I know a lot of folks call them "peeps", but I always called them "Biddies".

) Just seeing a hen scratching around, watching over her chicks is such a pleasant thing to see. I am retired now and hope to get started with this project this Summer. I live in NE Georgia near Athens (UGA territory). I live in Winterville, where my Granny lived.
