Looks like a gopher (bull) snake. Unless you are terrified of snakes, he should be welcome at your place. Besides eating mice and other nasty vermin, they are said to keep rattlesnakes away. It also looks like he's crawling across a gopher hill. If Mr. Snake could get down into the tunnel, that gopher would be lunch.

We have a few Garder snakes that hang out around our coop and garden.
They sure don't look like your fella.
 
That is a neat picture. I think it is great that you can allow him to continue to live around your home. I don't have any around here and am ok with that because they kind of creep me out.
 
We have them on our place too. Earlier in the year we saw two..well...they were being rather friendly! We have some great pics of snake sex..
 
Great pic. We have snakes around our house and barns. Two King snakes and a few Garter snakes. We see them all the time. We never kill the snakes. I wish others would do the same. They are very helpful at controlling mice and other snakes. Now Black snakes are different.
