I am considering getting a couple hens and when researching local ordinances it appears that many locations require a offset from an residential building, your own home included. Well at 7,000' on a highly wooded lot and get about 250" of snow a year. I was thinking a coop adjoining the house would be best. Is there anything I am not considering here? Any other advise for chickens in a snowy environment?

That's a LOT of snow! I wouldn't want my coop attached to the house just for fire hazards if you are adding heat. I would probably try to put it close to the back door, say less than 15 feet walk. Have fun planning!
