Somewhere in the land of chickens
I saw some fiches in the pet supply store, their avery was small compared to the fact that there were 3 birds. 2 were an unnatural pinky orange, and 1 was white. I felt really bad for the birds and wondered should I get finches? What would you do, and do you have any tips for not getting more birds.

If I had the space for them, I would take them in a flash. Especially if they have poor living conditions. On Saturday, I went to the flea market, and I saw an absolutely HUGE rooster. Maybe 20 pounds. I have a picture on my phone which I will upload later. He was in such a small cage for his size and it pained me to leave him there, but I knew I couldn't take him. The cage might look like a decent size for him, but he was massive when he stood up.

He's so pretty, name + breed?

I would only get them if you are looking for more birds. "Rescuing them" isn't really rescuing from a pet store as they will just replace them with more finches as soon as those are sold thus you're actually incouraging the problem.

If you want finches I'd look for some breeders for good healthy birds. Most pet stores WAY over charge anyways!

Luckily, I don't have this problem. The only pet store near me that sells live animals only adopts out owner surrenders and pets that were confiscated due to improper care. I agree with MissMonty that you shouldn't get them to save them, as that only encourages this treatment. It's the same with bad dog breeders. It kills me when people say, "I rescued a puppy for $3,000 from a sketchy breeder". In the end, all you did was give the breeder what they wanted: money. And as long as they keep getting money, they'll keep breeding more puppies.
ETA: rereading this, it sounds kinda mean. I didn't mean that at all. Just a little bit of venting :). You do what you decide is best!

If you want finches then you could consider it, but be aware that finches are very messy creatures. I love ours much more now that they have an outside aviary. Do lots of research before committing to a new pet.

Are you sure they were finches and not canary? It's just the 'unnatural pinky orange' sounds more like a canary and you can get white ones as well.

I had a look and they are canaries. In the UK we have a football team nicknamed 'the canaries' (Norwich City) that have a green and yellow football kit, so a kind of see canaries as yellow. Anyway, I don't think I would get birds such as finches or canaries, I just wanted to see if this eas OK, thanks for the help
