For the second time this year I have had my incubator go cold for a long time. This last incident, my incubator was cold for 36 hours. My basement is at about 58 degrees and the bator was at that temp when I discovered the problem. I had staggered hatches in the sportsman and had one tray that was due to hatch in 3 days. I got the problem solved and warmed the incubator up and left the eggs in there. I felt like the new eggs had a chance and they have in fact looked pretty good when I candled them. I had little hope for the older eggs about ready to hatch but left them anyway until this afternoon. They should have started on Sunday. I opened the door to get the tray out to throw away what I thought would be a batch of bad eggs and sure enough there is a bunch of chicks in there.

I will never give up on cold eggs until I am sure they are done. I am sure the hatch is affected but there was quite a few in there. I didnt count as I wanted to get the door shut as quickly as I could.
