Chirping
I have 23-hens, 1-rooster, and one cockerel. Last week I had a chicken who was making baby kitten sounds, I thought I would wait and see, in the meantime, I discovered Vet-Rx here on BYC. When I warmed as directed, and opened coop, she had died during the night. This afternoon before dusk, I went out and gathered the eggs, cleaned the poop boards, do that every day, and checked the bunch over. One of the hens was just opening its mouth with no sounds coming out. I going to go buy a small syringe in the morning, and give a dose down her throat (how many cc's do you think I need to do this)? going to wash her head and eyes, and rub some under her wings before they go to roost. I put pine needles (straw) over the sandy floors of the coop, and in next boxes. The coop is plenty drafty. My waterer is a plastic barrel with a lid, with a submerged water pressure cut off. I'm going to start adding some apple cider vinegar tomorrow to the water. How often do yall think I should I add the vinegar to an automatic waterer? I did that before I got the automatic waterer. Getting between 8-11 eggs a day now. I think there is about 10-gal. of water in the tank. Got any ideas how often to add the apple cider vinegar for that number of chickens? Just started this new adventure this past April. No more hatches for me for a few years. Got all I want!
