Hi!
My millefleur pekin has been making sneezing sounds for a while (a month?) and I didn't know that sneezing was a sign of respiratory diseases. I don't think she has any other symptoms and at the moment she's gone broody so she doesn't appear ill - just angry! Could another option be hay fever?
I'll post a pic of her head too. She's always had misshapen eyelids because she was pecked a lot when she was younger.
Thanks!

She looks healthy in the picture. However a chronic sneezer is worthy of a hands-on physical exam. Check her over from beak to butt. Sneezing is usually an indicator of respiratory disease, parasites, or poor air quality. In rare cases there could be a foreign body lodge in the nostril or up in the slit-I once had a sneezing chicken who had a piece of grass lodged in the slit that joins the nostrils to the oral cavity.

If she has been sneezing often for a month, she may have had a virus called infectious bronchitis, but you would have probably seen other chickens who had it too. If she has been the only one sneezing, then I would look at dust in feed or in the bedding, poor overhead air circulation, wet or moldy conditions, or something else as a cause.

Woah that sounds quite scary. I'll give her a thorough look over tonight. Thank you!

Ah ok... recently I started giving the girls DE to dust bathe in. I can't remember exactly when I first gave it to them but could this possibly be the problem?
Thanks for the info:)

I agree, DE is over rated, not good for the lungs can cause irritation and scar the lungs. You should do a thorough Google search on it to inform yourself

I would stop using the DE. It can be irritating to the respiratory system.
