Ok, so I bought these pullets at a swap meet and put them in with my pullets. The ones I bought were sick, and it cought on on to mine. I sold all the sick ones bought, but my chickens are still a little sick. Two of them I had to separate because one of theyre eyes was shut and I didnt want it to spread more. Theyre eyes arent swollen, but just shut a little. The rest seem ok, but they still sneeze and a few have discharge coming from theyre nose. What can I give them to make this go away? Any home remedies? Thanks

No home remedies will fix the disease you have now introduced into your flock by not quarantining those new birds for 4-6 weeks to see if they were infected. Neither will any antibiotics. Now, you have an ill flock, probably with mycoplasmosis, which is very common and contagious and stays with the bird even if the symptoms subside.

Your decision now is to cull (euthanize) or keep a sick flock that will have relapses and infect any new birds you ever bring in.

I never buy started birds, period, just because of this.

First Rule of Acquiring New Birds... QUARANTINE! 4-6 weeks, minimum.

You cannot get new birds and just put them in with your flock. You must keep them separate for a length of time to see if symptoms just like this come out. If they do, cull. By cull, I mean euthanize the bird. Do not add to the flock. Do not treat with antibiotics because that will not fix a virus and even if it's bacterial, like mycoplasmosis, antibiotics will not change the carrier status of the bird. She will infect the others.

Here is a thread on the subject: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/12751/urgent-reminder-please-quarantine-newly-acquired-birds/180

If it is MG as Speckled Hen mentioned, it also passes through the egg, so it is best if you never sell hatching eggs or chicks to anyone.

You can keep a closed flock and some do. Others choose to cull. If you send one for necropsy you will know which disease you are working with. Also, apparently there is a blood test for MG if you are interested that a vet can do.

If you are interested in necropsy and don't know how to go about it, just ask here or search byc.

There are antibiotics on many threads here on BYC but as Speckled Hen mentioned they will NOT cure the chicken.

Personally, I'd cull. I am so sorry for your troubles.
