I have two hens separated for respiratory symptoms. It’s been a week. They seem to be recovering and they are pets - I don’t want to cull them. How long do I keep them isolated before reintroducing to the flock? We have a closed flock, don’t breed or show. Including these we have four more one year olds. We also have 13 chicks we bought in may in a brooder. They are in a separate area but I think they introduced the disease. 🤦‍♀️

It will probably come back eventually won’t it?
I can’t think of any other options that won’t stop the rest of the girls from being exposed. We don’t want to kill the two hens and we don’t have a set up for them to live apart permanently. I suppose they have all already been exposed by this time anyway 🤷‍♀️

Welcome!
They have all been exposed, very likely. It would be best to have testing done so you know what the problem actually is! Contact your state veterinary lab for help in getting it done. If your stat has a veterinary college, start there.
