Can you describe any symptoms you are seeing? Tell us how old your chickens are, where you got them, and if you have added any new chickens to the flock? Are they sneezing, gasping for air, having any bubbles or foam from either eye, gasping, nasal drainage, wheezing or rattly breathing? Antibiotics only help if there is a bacterial or mycoplasma infection. Diseases can be from bacteria, viruses, mold fungus, or from pollen or other irritant, and poor air circulation.

Hello, I’m kind of having a similar problem with my flock. I have one hen inside my house currently being treated with Corid. Although she is showing all the other signs of coccidiosis, I haven’t seen any blood in her droppings—just white urate and little tiny green bile. I’ve asked google, Facebook chicken groups. And messaged a few homestead owner I knew and most of them kept telling me to treat her with Corid because she could possibly have coccidiosis but she hasn’t gotten any better. No eating, no drinking, and just laying there uncomfortably. I also went outside to the coop today to find the rest of my flock acting very weird. Closed eyes, some eating but not much, and a few pale combs accompanied with some lethargy. I’m pretty desperate at this point—all help is appreciated!

Welcome To BYC

How old is your hen?
When was her last egg?

You are finding more birds that are acting "weird", can you please post photos of them and the poop?

Treating for Coccidiosis shouldn't hurt anything, but if you have an established flock that is older, then investigating further is a good idea. Think if you've added new bedding recently, if they have all been exposed to some type of toxin (oil spills, compost, weed killers, etc.). Have you opened a new bag of feed - any moldy feed, is the date good on the bag?

Check for lice/mites.

Have you added any new birds recently?

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

Welcome to BYC and sorry about the sick chickens. Check for any moisture that could have made feed moldy. Mold can cause serious illness. Check a few crops in early morning when crops should be empty. Are any tails lowered or upright? Offer some moistened fresh chicken feed and some scrambled egg bits and watch if they are eating. Has there been a cold spell?

Thank you for responding! I came out to let the flock free range and they seem back to normal but I have one hen that’s still the same. She won’t leave the coop, I can say she seems very “shaky” like she is shivering but it’s not cold out. I just tried to grab her and she ran away but she can’t really keep her balance. She’s running away from me but falling? No mites or lice. And I just picked her up to check her and her abdomen is swollen but it feels soft or mushy. Any advice?

Thank you! They are feeling better today so maybe yesterday was just an off day but I’ll keep an eye on them. However, I have a hen who isn’t really eating, she looks like she’s foraging but no really active, she sometimes walks or runs to the side and loses balance, and she has some lethargy. She also has a soft little lump almost in between her legs but it’s not really big, should I give her a warm soak?

Does it seem like fluid in her lower abdomen under her vent? How old is she?
She is about 7 months, it just feel like a little fluid or mushy in there. Her droppings are dime sized and they are watery white. I gave her some poultry cell orally then mixed in some water- and I noticed She’s eating a bit and drinking water. She still walks and runs a little to the side and she runs into some things when running away from me.
