Hi friends I have someone sneezing chickens, first time chicken owner and I'm so worried about my babies. They started sneezing last week so I added some water addative and they seemed to be doing a little better. Today I realized my copper maran Salsa has bubbles in her eyeball, everything I read is pointing towards a respiratory infection. Unfortunately I live in CA so anything and everything requires an RX. My regular vet (the one I take my dogs to) will not see a chicken and does not know anyone in town that will either. What do I do? :(

Birdpal or other pigeon supply places. Unsure if there's a block on sending to CA. I held off on treating my flock because they had been treated a month previous, and because I have meat chickens, I held off because I had some culling to do and antibiotics would have delayed being able to use the meat.

However I did have one with a bubbly eye and some pus. I wiped at it and used Neosporin a few times (which is what I have used for myself and my dogs for over a decade for eye infections and figured if it was bacterial, then it could help. Viral and you just have to wait.)

I added chopped up garlic to their water and that seemed to help the worst ones that had lethargy.

Eventually time went on and the one with the eye healed up. I still have sneezes and some snotty noses but it's less and doesn't seem to affect their energy levels. But I'm still planning on giving them antibiotics.

I like tylosin and a doxycycline mix, and it's nice to have bromhexine on hand to help with breathing while you wait for the meds to kick in.
