I posted a few days ago about respiratory issues within my flock.
I had purchased a bird that apparently was ill and has infected my flock. I originally thought it was MG because the original pullet had a slightly swollen eye. We culled the very sickly bird and her immediate coop mates.
Unfortunately, whatever I’m dealing with is moving very quickly through the flock, so now I’m thinking it may actually be IBV. The newly infected birds have no eye issues but they have Tales bad. Each time I walk out to the coop another one sounds awful or is sneezing.
Would the rapid spread indicate IBV or should I continue on the course of believing it’s MG?
I can’t send a sample to a lab until Monday. At this point I’m unwilling to destroy my whole flock, I will keep it closed if that’s what I have to do. I’m unsure of how to treat them. Is it possible for them to recover without antibiotics? Like let the strongest immune systems win?
ughh I’m so upset.
