My poor EE is looking awful this morning! Any idea what I’m dealing with and how to treat? No other symptoms for her that I’ve observed. Other flock members aren’t exhibiting symptoms.

She looks terrible. I can't even tell where her eye is or should be. I think this might be fowl pox. I'll attach an article about it and the treatment for it. It isn't from BYC as that one isn't complete and hasn't been updated since 2020. Is her breathing laboured or audible?

No breathing issues. She went from fine to this 😭

Also, how long have the scabs been present? Anyone else in the flock have scabs like these?
None of my others look like this. Maybe in the past 48hrs? Maybe not even that long. I’m in the run several times a day and check everyone out frequently.

Isolate her as if it is fowl pox then it is contagious. I would start/follow the treatment in the article I attached earlier. The gunk/discharge is also odd.

l know. That’s what was throwing me off in diagnosing her.

The scabs look fowl pox so I think that is one part of the diagnoses. What the gunk is, I can't tell. Is it coming from her eye maybe? How do her ears look like?

I believe it’s coming from her eye. Ears look normal last time I looked her over (a few hours ago).

I do think that the scabs appear to be dry fowl pox. That is a virus spread by mosquitoes. It lasts about 3 weeks. Does the eye have swelling, gunk, or eye bubbles? If so, there may be a secondary infection. I would rinse the eye with either saline or an eye wash such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief Eye wash twice a day. Apply either Terramycin eye ointment, plain Neosporin or Polysporin, or Vetericyn eye gel. Don’t disturb the scabs, since that can spread the virus to others. Let us know how she gets along. Here is some reading about pox:
