Does anyone ever stop to wonder at how the well-being of many living things COMPLETELY depends on you, and you alone?
I am responsible for 2 humans (not including myself) 6 dogs (3 are rescues I'm trying to find homes for) two baby starlings, 12 peacocks, 2 turkeys, 2 pheasants, 7 guineas, 70 adult chickens and a hundred or so chicks of varying ages occupying multiple housing situations, 150+ eggs that are hand-turned three times a day, 3 lizards that I don't even like or want... forget about my house plants they are dying, screw the grass in the yard, and whatever landscaping thats not native are gonners.
I wanted to sleep in this morning, so I made sure that everything was set up with food and water and whatever else the night before... But I had to wake up to turn the eggs - no big deal I'll just do that and go back to sleep. Well, have to feed the starlings. THEN I'll go back to sleep. No? Put on the coffee then and and another day of juggling animals.
On that note, anyone in my neighborhood looking to give a very awesome home to a very awesome dog?
