I resqued an injured quail a week ago(minor injury on it's abdomen, but it caused her to miss it's migration). She has been healing, eating, drinking and sometimes even flying. She has a lot of energy but she's quite docile and likes to fall asleep when held. My problem is that at night she keeps banging her head angainst the cage and she has injured herself to the point of blood (i heard it's a common injury), and the only way to calm her is to take her out and hold her. What can i do to make her stop so she doesn't injure herself any further? She doesn't do anything of the sorts doring daytime.

My pet dove was doing this the other day. What I do is, I pick him up and show him my face telling him "it's mama! calm down" in a lower calm voice. Then I hold him for a few minutes, and slowly move him back to the cage with a towel covering all sides. ( he always has a towel on his cage at night but he saw me that night and got scared.)

That kind of funny 🤣 but as long as it works I guess that’s great.
