Rest in Peace- Buttercup and Butterbean.

Buttercup and Butterbean are both Buff Orpingtons, 4-6 years old. Buttercup died last month due to a freak accident- getting her head caught in the fence and breaking it. It was so upsetting, she was the first chicken I lost. We buried her in her favorite spot.

Butterbean died this morning (7/2/14) due to a raccoon. She was found this morning (by my dad) headless, right outside of their yard.

I'm sorry about Buttercup and Butterbean. They were beautiful hens.

I hope you and your family are double checking the coop and chicken yard security. Unfortunately, I know first hand how hard it is to loose a chicken to a raccoon, and I wouldn't want the raccoon to get any of your other chickens.

Thanks. Yes, we are, right now we are going to keep the ducks in the locked garage at night and have all of the chickens in their coops, locked up tight too.

Both girls are simply gorgeous. It hurts a lot when we lose them.
