No luck finding the littlest chick - I hope (and it might sound mean) that it was eaten, and has not spent the cold windy night hiding/slowly dieing -- that is the thought that really gets me.


SilverChick was a character and was very muched loved. This little all black/dark blue chick is the last I have from her - I actually hatched 3 dark chicks in the incubator and sold two

- oh the irony.


Little Bat (Masterson)- Know it is not a flattering name - but when I was chasing the stinker around the other day - its little body reminded me of a Bat -- with my luck it will be a cockerel.

Oh Genny! I'm so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful little girl she was. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you provided her with the very best life possible, and that she died an honorable death in protecting her babies. They're all so lucky to have had a momma who was willing to sacrifice herself to assure their survival.
