Aww man HF, so sorry as I weep along with you this breaks my heart. I also have lost two this last week so I'm there with you in heartache. Your Sylvia's story just did me in

Here is one of the last pictures I took of her. She had brooded a clutch of Blue Orpingtons - there is a chick peaking out behind her. This was in June of this year.

Ksane - I have my SL Bantam Cochins because of Sylvia

DH saw her and said "What a cool looking bird" LOL - that was all it took for me to get the bantams - the hatchery did not carry large fowl Silver Laced.

I am a new chicken owner as of this spring. We lost 2 and just had to get more. The one who is my favorite chose me. I treated it like I used to when picking a puppy. She is a Rhode Island Red and very sweet. I call her Rhodie. I have become pretty attached, so I can understand your pain.
