OH - @DobieLover - I didn't know about this. My girls just put their beaks in the water, not their wattles. So please note this warning everybody!!

Thus why we use nipple buckets/waterers. We have silkies that don't have large wattles, but they have beards. If they drank out of a bucket or open water waterer, they'd be getting wet all the way down the front of them.

(I just wanted to brag that I am in a warmer climate. Not to worry, I'll get my comeuppance when summer hits.)
