We had chickens for a few years in Louisiana and then after mad murder via foxes and then a big move to Tennessee, I have been on a few year hiatus from having a flock. A lot was due to my husbands lack of desire to build a coop and run (again) at the new house especially if they were going to be demolished again. It seemed like no matter what safety measures we took, they got in eventually. Anyhow, we are back in chickens with 15 chicks and a coop built- run will come before chicks are ready to go in it. Every Google search I se to ever do leads me to this site for answers so I figured maybe I should just join. :)
 
Glad you returned to chickens and joined BYC. Considering the past massacres, I think your first stop should be the predator forums so you will have a big, surprise welcome for any creatures who dare to try again.

Thanks both of you! Yes we are doing lots of research so I will spend time on the predator area. An ounce of prevention...
