Hey everyone!!
My name is Andrea!
I just moved my babies outside to their coop last weekend. I worked on that coop every spare moment since I brought them home, and I miss them! I go out And see them every morning before work, and every evening when I get home. Does it get any easier??

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My first chickens were when I was a child, and I wasn't allowed near them, because they'd attack.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 13 chickens. 8 of them are 6 weeks old, and 5 of them are 3 weeks old..

(3) What breeds do you have? 2 Americauna's. 2 Bantams, (one of my girls has an Einstein mustache). 2 black sexlinks, but my roo looks like a barred rock, and 2 silver laced Wyandotte's. Then after those guys went outside, I still have inside, 2 Ayam Cemani's, and 3 Bantam Cochin frizzles.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? All of their personalities!! They are seriously so fun to watch and relaxing to spend time with.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Painting, puzzles, anything with music and concerts!! Right now looking forward to After shock for the third year in a row!!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I don't own any other pets, unless you count the mealworm farm in progress. And I'm a caregiver by nature and trade. I've been a caregiver for going on eleven years. I have five clients, and wouldn't be able to change occupations if I tried.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
Google! I kept googling all of my questions about my new fluffy babies, and kept finding the most helpful answers here. Decided that I needed to start searching here from now on, and cut out the middle man.

Hello Andrea and welcome to BYC. I hope that you enjoy your time here.

This is a useful link of “How to” BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3. I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link above. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Hello, Andrea, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I hope the meal worms aren't pets or you are going to feel really bad when your other pets take great pleasure in eating them.
I too am a caretaker. The stress mounts daily and the chickens certainly do help with relaxation and stress relief.

The mealworms will eventually be food. I don't consider them pets!! Just want my babies spoiled rotten. They go bonkers for the few I hand feed them occasionally. Hoping to one day make that handful grow! And yes, oh my goodness, yes. It can be stressful, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. You're right, they bring a lot of peace to watch! They're my favorite stress relief.
