Returning Member from Northwest NJ – From Backyard Coop to 40-Acre Organic Farm

Hi everyone,

My name is Ron, and I’m thrilled to be reconnecting with the Backyard Chicken Forum community. I originally joined back in 2014, but life took me in a few different directions and I’ve been away from the forum for several years. Now that I’m back to raising chickens more seriously, I knew this was the best place to return for support, advice, and inspiration.

Originally from Central New Jersey, I’m now based in Northwest New Jersey. What began as a small backyard setup raising a family, has since grown into a 40-acre farm. My focus is on keeping everything as natural and organic as possible, both for the health of the animals and the land. This farm is where I plan to spend my final years doing something I truly love—caring for animals, growing food, and living close to the earth.

I’m particularly interested in coop design, managing flocks on a larger scale, organic practices, and year-round care in a four-season climate. I’d also love to connect with others in the Northeast or anyone with insight into sustainable and humane farm management.
