reuniting healed chick

One of the 7 week old chicks has healed nicely from a head wound. He/she has spent the nights in a little bird cage inside my home but during the day he was in his own large cage next to his siblings so they have always seen each other. His/her head does not have scabs anymore or old blood. but there are no new feathers yet. To re-introduce him/here I was planning to let them free range together so he can get away if needed and they have more space and things to do. Is this too early or do I wait until his/her head has grown feathers?
I am keeping the old ladies separate from them.

If it were me, I'd try to reintroduce them. If there's no scab or blood for the chicks to see, the lack of feathers shouldn't really attract too much attention. Just keep an eye on them for awhile. Good Luck!
