Things you wish you could say

I was not just stung by a yellow jacket under my chin and my neck is not swelling up like a balloon.

Holy Dinah RC! That’s not good, make sure to take some Loratadine (aka Claritin) to help reduce the inflammation - histamine causes the inflammatory response and swelling, the Loratadine will help with that. Also Tylenol and/or ibuprofen to help with pain.

I had that delayed reaction to the envenomation a couple summers ago - ankle/foot and thigh swelled like crazy 2 weeks after sting - the Loratadine worked miracles, of course the chooks had to peck at it every time I went to the barn, evil little velociraptors!

That looks painful, but not too bad. I stepped on a honey bee once. The swelling went halfway up to my knee and I couldn't walk on it for over a week.

You should still have it checked out. The first time I got stung by a wasp I drove to the emergency room and sat in the waiting room. I told the attendant that I was stung by a wasp, and since I'm allergic to bee venom, I wanted to be there in case I had a reaction. Luckily, I didn't, so after half an hour I went back home.

I got stung on a finger by a bee once and my arm swelled up almost to my shoulder by the time I got to the clinic 45 minutes away. I asked the clinician if I was allergic and he said no, if I was allergic I'd be dead, I was only "sensitive." So he gave me a Benadryl shot and sent me on my way.
