Things you wish you could say

I honestly thought the same thing. Maybe we're thinking of whole grain?
I've definitely seen labels like that! Yes, I think companies have been doing misleading things with "whole grain" labels.

I went looking for an actual example. This one is remarkably clear, which makes me wonder if someone tightened up the laws recently? Or enforced them better?

It certainly looks like they’ve been prodded to be more transparent. I’m going to pay more attention when I’m at the store! Cereals love to make the whole grain claim as well.
 
I’ve held this in for a while lol. If you post a question and I have to read twelve paragraphs about how you named your bird poppi and about his parents and cousins and how it follows you to the mailbox every other Friday I’m not going to make it through your post. Just get to the point about what’s wrong with your bird. I don’t care if the coop was painted blue last July or if your neighbors cat crapped in your flower bed.
I was a little disappointed you said "poppi" instead of Moony.

Thanks. I'll start experimenting for you. But in my experience 100% whole wheat bread lacks sufficient gluten to rise satisfactorily and tends to have the density and texture of a brick.
I did find a recipe a few weeks ago and it was good, just whole wheat flour, water, salt, oil and honey. Yes it was dense but I like dense. I just wish I could find it again 'cause I can't remember the exact ratios
I wonder if searching for "100% whole wheat" would help find the recipe you want?

When I look at bread loaves in the store, "100% whole wheat" is what I look for, if I want bread where all the flour is whole wheat and there is no white flour involved.
The ones that say "wheat" will generally have some white flour in them along with some whole wheat.
And of course the ones that say "white" are white bread.

I don't know if the same terms get used for recipes.

Oh, and I am in the USA. I don't see your location, but if you are in a different country from me, things might go by different names.

Nope. "100% whole wheat" only means that some percentage of 100% whole wheat has been included in the manufacture of that bread. It could be a tablespoon. "We put some 100% whole wheat into this bread." Seriously.
And that why it irks me to see the same practice going on in recipes, it's a bit misleading
