does anyone have any good ideas as to what you would get with the above cross...i made some very beautifull spanled bantams several years ago from a cross of a spangled old english and a speckled sussex bantam....my wife and i had to seperate due to the step children ,and she has mental problems, and let the poor birds starve to death.....well anyhow....i used to be against any kind of cross breeding, but sometimes i think the breeds need a little new blood to make them healthy...maybe you wont believe this story but ill tell it anyway...i crossed a rhode island red bantam with a chantecler bantam one year and i got this hen that wasnt real big ,not tiny..but maybe a pound and one half or two....and it layed a double yolker egg bigger than an extra large you would get at the suppermaket,,,,,,believe it or not!!!!...can anyone top that true story...true storys only please!!

that's quite the interesting story about the cross you had there. I remember a cross that happened on the yard several years ago that I thought would never happen. Largefowl black sumatra rooster bred a bantam white leghorn hen (without crushing her! lol) and then she actually sat on her eggs....now you know leghorns aren't known as good broodies. but she hatched off 7 eggs out of that I got 6 black faced black legged white feathered pullets and 1 yellow leg red face tuzo looking cockeral. I thought about working on bantam white sumatras at that point but decided against it.

i guess crossing breeds can be like a box of chocolates...never know what you wll get! thats what makes it fun ,i guess.
