I have a 4 month old rhode island red. She is the picture of health. She runs around, eats and seems very happy. I noticed a lump on her head though which has me worried. A few weeks ago I noticed that she had some feathers sticking up in a strange way but thought nothing of it. Today I felt her head and realized that there is a lump there. It is about the size of a knuckle. It moves around a bit when I inspect it. It is hard to the touch and seems to be uncomfortable to her. She reacts when it is touched. I am a first time chicken owner and could use advice. Any ideas about what this could be, if it is harmful and how to treat it?

Is it right beside the eye? it could possibly br eye wrm, where a tiny worm gets under the 'third eyelid'. . Is the eye watery?

It is on the back and to the side where her head meets her neck. Her eyes look fine...
