Rhode Island Red Hen?

I would say mixed breed. I have 1 Rhode Island Red and 1 Buff Orpington in my flock of 15. She looks too brown, not really red, to be a Rhode Island Red. And too dark of a brown to be a Buff Orpington. I know Orpingtons come in several colors. But she just looks "off", to fit perfectly in either one of those breeds.

Yeah, by no means was I saying she was a Buff (color) Orpington, but she looks to me like she may have some Orpington in there somewhere along the line. Mix breed makes sense - there are bits of different breeds there for sure 🙂

Thank you everyone. Whatever she is…she is just a little doll. Any opinions about what I should be giving her as a supplement or something to help make her stronger. She just seems so little and meek?

Is she eating and drinking ok? Do the other birds pick on her at all? It’s possible that is just her size and demeanor, she may also be low in the pecking order.

She looks like a sweet girl. Curious to see what color egg she eventually lays. You’ll have to give us an update as she grows older.

I have 2 "Cookies and Cream" pullets from Meyers. And they look like runts, compared to the other 12 pullets I have. I have 10 different breeds. And they are by far the smallest. Not bantam. Just small. And I believe that's just their size. Could be the same case with your mix breed. Since it's a mix breed, there's just no telling what it's mixed with. My Cookies and Cream have an extra toe. LOL

I only have her 2 days…but seems to eat and drink ok. Definitely low in the pecking order. I have been trying to keep her with smaller pullets she seems more comfortable with.
Will do on the eggs! And..she is very sweet.
