Rhode Island Red -- rooster or hen?

Hi all,

Does the RIR look like a rooster or pullet to you? They are both 17 weeks and we've had them since they were chicks. Providence, the RIR, has always been larger and dominant, but just last week he/she started crowing. (Seems late for a roo?) She doesn't crow well -- more of a vocalization. Any advice would be appreciated.

No doubt...that's a ROO, and no some roos don't start crowing til late.

Thank you! I guess I knew but was in denial. And the feed store where I bought him was ambivalent -- I think they felt bad.

Second time I've had to drive to the country to swap out a bird. : )

Thats a handsomel RIR Roo love his tail feathers, i agree with wiwi60 some dont crow until late im still waiting to hear my Roos crow there almost 10 weeks now lol.

100% a rooster. Handsome boy!
