I have three RIR all laying for about a month now. I also have maturing buff Orpingtons but haven’t seen them on the laying nests or squatting behavior. One BO is getting a brighter red comb, so getting close.
In the past week I’ve found 2 large (not beginner size) pale pink eggs. The shells are thinner than the brown eggs that have been laid. Could one of my RIR be laying these and if so, is it a problem? Could it be calcium deficiency? Because 11 of my 14 chickens aren’t laying yet, I’m still feeding them all chick crumbles (Pay back “hatch to hen”) and supplementing with calcium bowl of oyster shell and egg shells. Any advice or insight welcomed!

Well, BOs do lay pale pinky-beige eggs…

Maybe yours is farther along than you thought!

They don’t all squat first.
