Technically speaking there's little or no difference between hatchery quality RIRs and Production Reds. Hatchery quality RIRs lack the dark rich mahogany color and deep body of heritage RIRs. Typically if the hatcheries "reds" tend toward a darker feather color (closer to mahogany) the hatcheries market them as RIRs. If their feathers tend toward a lighter red color (closer to chestnut), they usually market them as New Hampshires. If the red color is somewhere in the middle or very uneven the hatcheries typically market them as Production Reds.I think technically she'd be called a production red but we call her Taylor![]()
