I just bought 2 RIRs from a breeder and they are some of my favorite chickens.:cd
I have 3 RIR 2 have been laying for 2 months. The 3 rd who I though would be the one to lay first has not laid and she is 28 weeks. No she's not a rooster. Is this common? They all get a supreme diet and are very healthy ! Should u be worried or is this normal for this breed?![]()
So, I am fairly new to owning chickens and have raised 4 (lost two to foxes) great RIR's. I surprised myself with how much I enjoy being around them and how entertaining they are. That being said, I don't know if its just because of the age or if there is something wrong with a new one. She was given to us because the rest of the flock had been masacured by a predator of some sort. She is currently in quarantine. I dont know how old she is, anywhere between a year and three. She acts fine but her legs are a dull yellow, almost jaundiced looking rather than the bright yellow mine are. Now I know mine are younger so I guess my question is do their leg colors dull with age or is there something medically wrong with her. Thanks in advance for any answers!
