My uncle and grandmother have chickens too. They live in another state, but we talk often. They just bought 2 Swedish Flower Hens that are so gorgeous.

I’ve never seen a Swedish Flower. Imma go look them up right now!

They got 4 together all of the same age, 2 Swedish Flower Hens and 2 silver Deathlayers. At first, she said she was worried the SFHs would be mean because they seemed to dominate the Deathlayers. But they've had them about a month now and she said they seem to have really calmed down.

They buy all of their birds at about 13 weeks old so they can get only females and not do the chick thing. I mean, she's almost 90, so chicks would just be a lot of work, lol. Since they get them older, they are more skittish with people than I guess hand raised chicks would be, but they aren't aggressive at all.

I personally, would die if I could never raise chicks again!
I have a friend with a HUGE flock, and she has never bought a chick under 8 weeks old.

They really are gorgeous. I've never seen any for sale in TSC or RK, which are the main 2 stores here that sell chicks.

I think those feet are a giveaway!
But hey, a Swedish Flower rooster wouldn’t be bad! Then, if they ever hatch any of their eggs, they’ll all be half Swedish Flower!

I wouldn't complain, lol. It's definitely growing into quite a pretty little bird, whatever it is. I can't believe how big they already are!
