Hello there,

I used to have some rhode island reds hens, ( three in fact) and they where as friendly as can be and gave the most delicious eggs. They where my pride and joy, however, I moved to another state, and gave them away to a good friend who already had a flock and had the room, so they are taken care of.

But i want some chickens again! I am sold on rhode island reds for life, and they are very cold hardy (I now live in Washington) so I will stick to the breed i know. But now I am wondering if I should get bantams?

Is there temperament the same as their bigger cousins? egg production? Behavior? health concerns?

Or should i just stick with the regular Rhode island reds that i know and love and stay away from the mini-reds?

(btw i am only talking about the pullets, my town does not permit roos within city limits)
