Rhode Island Reds - what gender?

I have 12 RIR's and a friend told me to look at the cones. The male chick will have a cone that grows faster since it will be bigger thatn the female cone. So try that and see what you come up with. Hope this helps.

Mine are only 11 days old so I am not going to try this until they are about 3 to 4 weeks of age. Plus if one makes a real funny noise, you may have a roo.
 
Here are the same RIRs from the start of the thread, much older and I am pretty sure they are female.

One is a bit bigger than the other and has thicker legs, even though they were hatched together. But I am guessing that's just due to some variation in the breed, right?
 
Here are some updated photos on my [probable] girls. They are a little over 3 months old now. I am feeling pretty confident that they are female at this point. Any disagreements on that?

They are the same breed but definitely growing a slightly different rates, despite being the same age, eating the same food, etc. Is this fairly typical?
