Are rhode island reds darker colored or brighter colored as babies?

My RIR were dark reddish brown when they were chicks.

Mine were lighter as a chick, than they will be as an adult, but very much a red color. (but since they are hatchery birds, I don't expect them to be very dark as adults)

ours is like a strawberry blond... a light reddish color

Mine were a lighter reddish brown as chicks, but are a really dark red now.

Here is my RIR 4.5 weeks old. She was much lighter with her down feathers. Her feathers now are a deep red color.

I just found a picture a few days after we brought her home.
