    is it possible for a RIR rooster and hen to mate and the offspring be black with a little bit of white?

    I have never heard of that! maybe if it had feather problems!!

    No, not if the parent stock was true bred. It seems likely either some other rooster bred the hen, eggs got confused, or the parent stock simply isn't purebred or true bred RIR.
