I bought some rhodie eggs on e-bay. One of them hatched out black. Can rhodies be black when they hatch? Or did the seller mix his eggs up?

Ebay and hatching eggs. I don't know. I just prefer to do business with people I actually know and know something about the quality of their breeder stock.

To answer your question, no. A Rhode Island Red never hatches out black.
