rhode island reds

just purchased my first batch of rhode island reds..had bjg chicks last year not happy with them. can anyone give me info on rir.. how u like them egg laying, meat etc. thanks spring is coming tractor supply has them in already yeah !!!!

I hope you enjoy them,but here is some useful and accurate information.

The RIR has made a few breeds.RIR are meant for both meat and egg products.

I had two RIR hens,and as usual,they were aggressive.It seems common with RIR .They are useful (good) layers,but,one in the flock,is enough.

I was actually considering them,because I have black sexlinks and tough New Hampshire hen,like to sees them rhodies pick on those two hens.

I want Heritage RIR,mainly cause,they lay better.But,rhodies do make good pets.Mines were trained...
