RI Red sick need suggestions advice please

Ok.

I've read a bunch here to try to find out what's wrong with my chicken and I'm coming up cold. It seems that there are some symptoms similar to others but I am not quite sure what to do.

Rhode Island Red Rooster 10 Months old
Was a good healthy one.
Now has gargling noises in throat.
Has gotten too weak to walk.
Has white poop on butt where poops.
Has not eaten in a few days.
Has black spots on is comb. (stuff on top of his head)

Two days ago I gave him some Apple Cider Vinigar, straight, from a syringe to make him drink it.

Did that for two mornings in a row.

This morning gave him some yogurt in a syring, to make him eat it.

Have him seperated from others for about 2 days now.

Has just laid there, not eating or drinking.

He has lost a lot of wt.

What is your diagnosis and how to treat?

Isolate from others
Any antibiotics on hand??
Keep drenching with fluids/electrolytes. Gatorade is a good substitue in a pinch.
Poly-Vi-Sol baby vitamins. one dropper full 2 to 3 times a week. Get the plain not w/iron kind. Plain has more B vitamins in it.
Start on anti biotic. Drench him if he is not drinking on his own to insure he gets required therapeutic amount.
Black spots on his comb could just be bug bites or trama from others pecking at him. They don't quite look like fowl pox.
They are several respiratory ailments that poultry can fall victim to. It is hard to diagnose. Just try the antibiotics, like Tylan water soluble or if you want to go injectable you could go that route.
Hold on and hopefully others well chime in with advice too.

i use 1/2 cc of injectable "pen-Aqueous" give for 3 days,, also vetrx ,, 2 drops down the mouth, and a drop under each wing.

ok, I have some tylan (tylosin)

it's the injection kind.

how do I administer it?

it doesn't say anything on the box for chickens

can I add it to the water and make it work?

or use a syring and squirt down thier mouth into throat?

is it a powder?,, if so it is suppose to be mixed with the water. i dont much about it,, i dont like the water mixed kinds,, it seems to take too long for them to actually get enough to help,,, but im sure someone will see this and tell ya.

If the Tylan is injectable, you need to give it through injection. It will not work in the water. As taken from thepoultrysite.com

It has been found that an injection of Tylan 200 - 0.5 ml in the breast muscle, and a follow up injection 48 hrs later gives excellent results

The black spots are scabs from the hens/or another rooster beating up on your rooster. It looks like they really got him bad back towards the end of his comb. Keep him isolated from the others with some heat via the heatlamp (a 60 watt bulb would do fine) and encourage him to eat. The member Wynette, from here on BYC has lots and lots of experience in the syringe feeding area and I'm sure wouldn't mind helping you out as to what, how much to feed, and how often. He needs to get some nourishment, other than a syringe full of yogurt or ACV or he will die. Good luck and keep us updated as to how he is doing.​

Mix up a little sugar water and syringe feed it to him to make sure he has enough energy to keep his heart & lungs going.

Try feeding him some warm human oatmeal.

those black spots on the back of the crown developed after he was in isolation


started the tylan 50 oral injection today of 1/2 cc per bird.

Will do this for 3 days and see what shakes loose.

Keep the ideas coming as I want to cover all bases.
